Never had a bad experience here. Staff is always friendly and service is great. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Dry rub wings is one of our favorite wings in town. Even when asking for them to be extra crispy they are never dry. Other standout favorites are the portobello fries, grilled cheese, argentine flank steak, bone marrow and French toast. We always bring out of town friends here for brunch. Mimosa deal is pretty great! Full bar and plenty of great beers on tap as well. They have something on the menu to please everyone. Always a great meal here!
Was craving some wings and it definitely did not disappoint had some steak too. Very delicious.
It was a cold damp day today, which is perfect for a bowl of soup. I had heard good things about this place and wanted to try it for awhile, and the fact that they serve one of my favorite cold weather dishes, grilled cheese with tomato soup, made this a no brainer. Brasserie St. James is located in midtown and stays true to that "rebirth" vibe. The ambience is comfortable and upbeat. You are as likely to see dresses and suits as T shirts and flip flops. I ordered the Snow Day, a grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of roasted tomato soup. I would give the sandwich 5 stars. The cheese pull test was incredible. I think you can pull the cheese about a foot or more before it breaks. The bread was thick, and perfectly browned (not charred). The soup was tasty, but lost its appeal the more of it i ate. It was a bit spicey (which i like) but it was over salted, and i like salt. The more i ate, the more acidic tasting it became. I think if they added some cream it would tame that acid taste. I would give the soup 3.5 stars. Service was good but at times inconsistent. I sat at the bar so there was always a waiter pretty close to me but i was sucking on ice cubes a couple of times before getting refills. Also, my pet peeve is waiting for the bill when i am done and finally i had to flag down a bartender to close my bill. I shouldn't have to do that. I found it to be a bit pricey, $23.50 for grilled cheese, cup of soup and a coke before tip. Ingredients costs couldn't have been more than 5 bucks so a bit of a markup but not terribly out of line with the neighborhood. All in all, i will return as they have a varied menu and other dishes i saw being served looked pretty good and i want to try more.
The experience and quality here is always top notch. It's an amazing spot for celebratory dinners. Their menu is extensive and drinks are creative. I recommend outside seating, and it is dog friendly too! The patio is wonderfully cool after sunset. Service is always prompt and friendly. We will always return!
Our boss took our office here for a fun night out to celebrate all our birthdays. We all ordered a few appetizers, drinks, and meals and shared. Most everything was presented beautifully and seasoned well. The service was always there to make sure we had enough to drink, cleared plates quickly when we were done with one thing to make room for the next round we ordered, and all the service was so nice. The building is quite historic and they have kept it in such great shape that they've been commended by the city. The brick and the original wood is gorgeous and I couldn't stop looking at all the details inside and out. The only downer was the a/c isn't very cold so we were a little warm, but I would assume that's because we were in an old building.
Came in Sunday evening for a causal dinner. They were busy and would keep in mind for future visit a reservation. We wanted outdoor seating but they were booked-- however we were able to order drinks at the bar and take it upstairs to the open deck area. We placed our food order at the bar and they took it upstairs to the deck. The food took a little longer to arrive but understandable because of how busy they were. The staff did apologize for the wait. We had fish and chips and a Cubano sandwich. The fish and chips came with shrimp. The fish was good but maybe if it was cooked just a few mins longer to be crispier. Shrimp was really good. It came with two sauces-- the cajun was perfect. The Cubano sandwich was really flavorful, everything was fresh. I will definitely come back and try again when it's not as crowded. The restaurant is very cute and has a good vibe!
We stopped in for appetizers and a cocktail and ended up vowing to return. The mac and cheese was cheesy and smooth. The addition of gouda made the dish even more flavorful. It's an appetizer, but certainly could be a main dish. The pretzels were served with two different sauces and the mustard one was spicy goodness. The portobello fries were the star of the appetizer show. Crisp and tasty with both sauces adding a tasty layer to its deliciousness. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner (at a time when the restaurant was not crowded) and our wait staff was so attentive. They overheard me making a comment about the blackberry slushy mule and brought over a taste in a shot glass. I am definitely ordering that next time. The decor was clean and very cozy. I truly felt like I was transported to a European pub. All in all, the food and drinks are worth the stop. And we will definitely be back.
They recently changed the menu! The new owner is super sweet and very attentive. Every time I go there, whether it's alone or with my husband, we sit at the bar. It's a super open area with outdoor seating as well. The servers and bar tenders are super sweet and always on top of it. They have a delicious grilled Caesar salad which I get almost every time because it's so filling and delicious! They changed their menu and have way more veg friendly options and lighter food for the summer! They have flights of beer and also a ton of different beers on tap! One of my fav local spots in Reno.
Super cute spot for a lunch/dinner date. They have outside seating for the summer which I really recommend if the weathers great! We had the Fish and chips and the basque mussels w/ frites as well as the poutine with pork gravy for an appetizer! The server was very nice and attentive while it was busy for the dinner rush. 10/10 loved it. Would def come back again.
Came in on a Thursday and were sat right away. Cute inside but seemed a little quiet (didnt notice music on) and when its empty feels like its missing some ambiance. Our server was very nice and attentive and food came out in a timely manner! We ordered a beer and the molly ringwald drink. Both were very good! We started with the pretzels. They were good, to me i feel they could have maybe been cooked a little longer, they seemed a little doughy more like bread than pretzel. And i wish more beer cheese came with it as that was so good! For meals we ordered the Lafayette and the Albright. Both were huge! You def won't leave hungry ! And both very tasty and very good fries. The Lafayette is a bit of a mess though so ask for extra napkins! Overall very good! Cant wait to come back when it gets warmer to try the patio and rooftop!
